House Speaker Martin Romualdez has already said that future electoral possibilities are the farthest from his mind.
But in case he does decide to run for the presidency in 2028, he can expect House Deputy Majority Leader Zamboanga City 2nd district Rep. Mannix Dalipe to back him up.
"Oh, why not. I would support him if he decided to run," Dalipe said of the House leader during a cable news interview over the weekend.
However, the Mindanaoan quickly noted, "That’s (polls) five years from now. Malayo pa (It's far away)."
"But if you ask me right now, would I support him? Of course, he’s a very good Speaker saka (and) hardworking one as Speaker. Pero...wala pa naman siyang intensyon para tumakbo ng president, wala siyang sinasabi," Dalipe said.

In a recent television interview, ex-president Rodrigo Duterte advised his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte, to not vie for the Palace seat in the 2028 national elections and instead let Romualdez run the country.
The Leyte 1st district congressman has responded to this by saying: "Regarding my personal political aspirations, I am currently committed to my role as Speaker and serving the needs of our nation. My focus is on the present responsibilities and not on future electoral possibilities."
Romualdez and Dalipe are party-mates over at Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD)
