Included in the proposed P2.37-billion budget is some P500 million allocation as intelligence funds, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said. The proposed budget includes P181,325,000 for personnel services, P2,151,444,000 for maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE), and P41,250,000 for capital outlays. The CIF will fall under the OVP’s MOOE. If Congress approves the OVP’s proposed budget for 2024, it would be four times the budget of the office during the second year of former vice president Leni Robredo’s tenure. In 2018, Robredo’s approved budget was P543,946,000, data from the DBM showed. Aside from the OVP’s budget, Duterte would also manage the Department of Education’s (DepEd) proposed 2024 budget of P714,163,419,000, the highest allocation in the national budget as mandated by the 1987 Constitution. DepEd will also get P150 million in CIFs. Earlier, the DBM said that the Office of the President (OP) will get the lion’s share of the P9.2-billion confidential fund for 2024 as it is set to receive P4.5 billion, while P500 million will go to the OVP, P1.7 billion to the Department of National Defense (DND), and P150 million to DepEd.
