ILOILO CITY – A New People’s Army (NPA) rebel surrendered to the police in Capiz province on Friday, August 18.
Felecesimo Garbosa Garotche, alias “Ka Roque,” turned himself in to the 2nd Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company, the Dumalag Municipal Police Station, and the Capiz Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Unit.
The 56-year-old was formerly a member of Squad 2 of the then Igabon Platoon in the 1980s.
Garotche surrendered his homemade .38 caliber revolver.
The Police Regional Office-6 lauded the efforts of the Capiz police in helping the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) curb communist insurgency in Western Visayas.
"Sa atin pong pagtutulungan, kasama ang lahat ng ahensya ng gobyerno, pati ng mamamayan ay makakamit po natin ang ating minimithing kapayapaan at kaunlaran, lalong-lalo na ang nasa kanayunan na unti-unti ng nagigising sa katotohanan sa ilang taong panlilinlang ng kabilang grupo (Our united efforts will pave the way for peace and prosperity, particularly in the barangays which are now realizing the deception of the New People’s Army)," said PRO-6 chief Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor.
