The Manila local government received a brand new fire truck from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Wednesday, July 5.  The turnover ceremony was held at the Bureau of Fire Protection-National Headquarters (BFP-NHQ) in Quezon City, led by DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos.   Through the efforts of Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, the Manila Fire District (MFD) became the only recipient of the 1,000-gallon capacity fire truck in National Capital Region (NCR). Third District Representative Joel Chua was joined by MFD director Fire Supt. Christine Doctor-Cula during the ceremony.  Chua expressed the city government's appreciation to the DILG and BFP for turning over the 1000-gallon fire truck to Manila. After receiving the brand new fire truck, Chua said they are anticipating two more fire trucks from DILG. "Si Mayora Honey Lacuna mismo ang nakakita sa pangangailangan ng pagkakaroon ng bagong trak na pamatay-sunog kaya't hiniling namin ito sa tanggapan ni DILG Undersecretary Juan Victor Llamas at kami nama'y kabilang sa mga napagbigyan (Mayor Honey Lacuna herself saw the need for a new fire truck, so we requested it from the office of DILG Undersecretary Juan Victor Llamas, and our request was granted)," Chua said as he thanked DILG.  The BFP and DILG turned over a total of 56 units of 1,000-gallon capacity fire trucks to different regions of the country.
