Former Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) secretary Erwin Tulfo is poised to become the 312th active member of the House of Representatives in the 19th Congress. This, after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) finally issued Tulfo's Certificate of Proclamation as ACT-CIS Party-list representative last Thursday, July 20. With this, he is expected to be added soon to the roll of the House of Representatives, which as of this posting has 311 active members. Tulfo, also a popular broadcaster, took his oath as the third nominee of ACT-CIS Party-list last May 30, or just before the end of the first regular session. He occupied an office in Batasan Complex soon after. He will step on the House plenary for the first time on Monday, July 24, the day of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s second State of the Nation Address (SONA). Tulfo has said that he wants to be part of the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, which is the lower chamber's equivalent of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee. Tulfo also said that he has over 100 bills ready to be filed. Reps. Jocelyn Tulfo and Edvic Yap are the other two nominees of ACT-CIS, the top vote-getter during the May 2022 party-list race.
