BACOLOD CITY – A biker died after he was hit by a motorcycle and ran over by a pickup truck in Barangay Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, July 6. Police Lt. Col. Joem Malong, Bago police chief, said the victim was identified by his family on Friday, July 7, as Kevin Casabuena, 22, of Barangay Sum-ag here. Malong said the victim left their house after dinner on Wednesday night, July 5, without the knowledge of his parents, according to his family. His family learned that he was not at home after they discovered that the bike was missing the following day, she added. The accident happened early Thursday when the victim was about to execute a turn and was hit by an alleged speeding motorcycle driven by Ariel Remegio Jr. of Barangay Sampinit here. An alleged speeding white pickup truck that was tailing the motorcycle then reportedly ran over the biker, according to Malong. However, the pickup truck did not stop as the driver probably failed to notice the victim, she said. Malong said that Remegio was injured and taken to a private hospital here while Casabuena was declared dead in a hospital. Policemen are still probing to identify the driver of the pick-up truck.
