QUEZON – Three commercial vessels were apprehended by authorities in Tayabas Bay for fishing without licenses. The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Region 4-A-Fisheries Protection and Law Enforcement Group (BFAR4A-FPLEG)-Eastern Seaboard, Western Seaboard and Naval Forces Southern Luzon Naval Intelligence Security Unit-32 Philippine Navy (NAVFORSOL NISU-32 PN) carried out the operation that resulted in the apprehension of these unlicensed vessels on Friday, May 19. Fishing Regulations Officer I Danilo Larita Jr. said FV Candelaria, a carrier, and two light boats identified as FV Dadds 10 and FV Dadds VIII, were caught in the act of actual fishing operations despite having no licenses and operated by fishermen who also did not have permits. Larita said the vessels operators violated Sections 86 (unauthorized fishing) and 113 (employing unlicensed fishermen) of Republic Act 10654 (An Act to Prevent, Deter, and Eliminate Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing) which amended RA No. 8550, the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998. The commercial fishing vessels are owned by a certain “Analiza” of Barangay Mayao Crossing, Dalahican Road, Lucena City.
