A total of 2,667 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) had been released by the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) from its prison facilities from Jan. 1 to June 22 this year.

In a social media post, Bucor said the bureau “continues to carry out its decongestion program through faster release of qualified PDLs and ensures complete reintegration as productive citizens of mainstream society.”

It said that 436 PDLs were released last January, 298 last February, 582 last March, 353 last April, 582 last May, and 416 as of June 22.

It also said that of those released, 1,318 were from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City; 286 from the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City; 42 from Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro; 145 from the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City, 212 from the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan; 180 from Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) in Abuyog, Leyte; and 484 from Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte.

In 2021, BuCor released 4,610 qualified PDLs.
