All these new cases were reported separately in the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, and Europe.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos to 12,350. Of that total, 3,457 are under treatment, 8,032 have recovered and 861 died due to COVID-19 infections.

According to the DFA, the latest increase in the number of confirmed cases and recoveries is due to the belated reports from a country in Europe.

On the ongoing government repatriation program, the DFA achieved two milestones last week as it brought home 13,537 Filipino repatriates from various parts of the world.

Last week’s figure was the highest weekly total since the DFA started its COVID-19 repatriations in February.

Second, the DFA breached the 300,000 mark in the number of overseas Filipinos repatriated due to the pandemic. It has brought home 300,838 overseas Filipinos from all the major geographical regions.

DFA data showed that 90,621 (30.12 percent) of those repatriated are sea-based workers while 210,217 (69.88 percent) are land-based.
